Chaos on a flight from Cancun, Mexico to Charlotte. Witnesses say a man beat up his wife and punched other passengers before he was finally subdued. The violence forced the pilots to make an unscheduled landing in Miami. That's where officers took 48 year old Daniel Royer, of High Point, off the plane and escorted him to the Miami-Dade County jail.
The incident was a shock for passengers on their way back after a vacation. At first no one seemed to know exactly what was happening. "People on the plane thought we were getting hijacked," on passenger told us, "we had no clue what was going on."
We're told it took several men to restrain Royer. Lance Black is a Charlotte car salesman who ran to help. He says it's a flight he'll never forget. "It would'nt keep you from flying again," he says, "but definitely one of those famous stories to remember about crazy people.
Daniel Royer has been charged with simple assault and interfering with a flight crew. The second charge is a federal offense.
