MINT HILL, NC (WBTV) - Police have identified a motorcyclist who was involved in a wreck in Mint Hill Thursday evening.

The wreck happened at 5:56 p.m. at the intersection of Evans Road and NC 51 (Matthews-Mint Hill Road).  The accident involved two vehicles and a motorcycle.

Police say the motorcyclist is Richard Cullinan Jr., 41, of Mint Hill.

According to the Mint Hill Police Department, Cullinan was driving a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on NC 51 and was approaching the intersection with Evans Road.

Police say a Ford Windstar van, driven by Regina Williams, 55, of Mint Hill, was attempting to turn left onto NC 51 from Evans Road and pulled into the path of the motorcycle.

Cullinan collided with the van and lost control of the motorcycle which ended up on its side in the northbound lane of NC 51.

Cullinan was ejected from the motorcycle and was struck by a Jeep Cherokee heading north on NC 51.  Diane Marshburn, 59, of Midland, was driving the jeep.

Cullinan died at the scene.

Police say speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.  They are still continuing to investigate the crash and are interviewing other witnesses.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's office to determine if any charges should be filed.

If you have any information about the wreck, call the Mint Hill P.D. at 704-889-2231.
