CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - After nearly 20 years on the job, the lead homicide prosecutor in Mecklenburg County has been fired.
Sources say Marsha Goodenow was let go Monday.
District attorney Peter Gilchrist calls Goodenow an ethical and excellent attorney, but said he would not comment on why she was fired.
Speculation is running rampant in Mecklenburg County's legal community. Several attorneys say they are shocked and surprised.
Goodenow has prosecuted and won several high profile cases, including the conviction of serial killer Henry Louis Wallace, former bank executive David Crespi who killed his twin little girls, and cop killer Demeatrius Montgomery.
