CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati police are calling the death of a University of Cincinnati student early Saturday morning a tragic accident.

Andrew Howell, who graduated from Myers Park High School, was found after falling from the roof of a small apartment building on Ohio Avenue near campus.   Howell was a French horn player who was studying at the College-Conservatory of Music.

According to police, around 3 am Saturday, Howell and a friend went on the roof of their residence for the view of the city. The friend went back inside, but realized Andrew did not follow him back inside.

Howell's friend then went back onto the roof and saw him in the yard unconscious. His friends tried to revive him with CPR and called 911. Howell was taken to University Hospital where he died.

Police say the Howell slipped and it appears to be a tragic accident.

His family in Charlotte, North Carolina have been notified of the incident.

The death brought an immediate outpouring of regrets on the Facebook page for the French horn department at CCM. Howell's personal Facebook page also had many messages left on it.

An officer from the Cincinnati Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death.  The police have not said how they think the fall happened.
