Dad attacks school principal, faces charges, police say

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) - The father of three Lancaster High School students has been charged with assault after police say he attacked an assistant principal during an open house.

Police say Rodney Thompson punched Assistant Principal Bill Farrar multiple times in the face during the school's open house on Monday night. Farrar had to get stitches after the attack.

The assault happened just hours after Thompson's sons were arrested for fighting at school, police say; a fight that assistant principal William Farrar broke up.

After the attack, Thompson told police that his sons told him Farrar assaulted one of them while breaking up the fight. Thompson reportedly told police he hopes Farrar 'will think before he touches another student.'

WBTV has learned that both the fight earlier in the day, and the attack were caught on the school's surveillance video and the school says there is no indication Farrar assaulted the teens.

The school says all four students involved in the fight have been suspended from school. Thompson has been charged with Assault and Battery.
