CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A truck flipped over in the southbound lanes of I-77 between I-485 and Harris Boulevard in north Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency workers shut down all but one of the southbound lanes of I-77 after the truck flipped onto the shoulder of the road. By 5:20 p.m., all lanes were reopened.
Two people were trapped inside the truck, but firefighters were able to free them.
A MEDIC spokesman said both patients suffered life-threatening injuries and they were taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Traffic heading from the Lake Norman area to Charlotte was backed up for miles.
