CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Jody Mace tries not to think about how much time she spends on her laptop these days. If she did, she knows she'd be shocked by the number of hours.
Jody's latest obsession is meant to help you save money. She is the woman behind a relatively new website where you can search for free or inexpensive things to do in the Charlotte area.
She also details cheap "eats" and free "stuff", and she tries to check out as much as she can in person.
"We've done some really neat stuff but there is just so much to do, there's no way one person could get to it all," Mace said.
The website, www.charlotteonthecheap.com, is part of a national "on the cheap" network. Similar websites across the country provide the same service in other cities.
For a group like the Charlotte Shakespeare Festival, which performs at "The Green" in Uptown through June 14th, a mere mention on a website like this is almost more priceless than the advertising they pay for.
"What means more to our audience is when someone takes the time to write about you because they have personally experienced it. I think it's more credible to our audience so I love it and I hope she keeps it up," said Elise Wilkinson, the Executive Director of the company which produces the Charlotte Shakespeare Festival.
