Everyone is getting into gardening these days! And fall is the perfect time to start gardening in the Carolinas. In a lot of ways its even better than spring! Just about everything one plants in the spring, can be planted now. The only exception to this is hot weather plants like tomatoes or peppers. Try your hand at broccoli or lettuce. Spring bulbs, trees, shrubs and perennials love the cooler temperatures of fall and will thrive here. Fall is also a great time to do outdoor “hardscaping” projects, like patios, walkways or even a rain garden! We hope to inspire you to try your hand at gardening. Take a little plot of land and grow some lettuce, try your hand at container gardening or simply add a little flower color to a porch or patio…or perhaps tackle a bigger project like a paver walkway.  You CAN have a green thumb! We will show you the pitfalls to avoid and the good gardening practices to use that will insure great results. With the help of the growing specialists at Blue Max Materials, Mecklenburg County Master Gardeners and gardeners from community plots all over the county you will learn how to make your garden thrive. And perhaps even add something edible to your kitchen table to make for a perfect fall here in the Carolinas!

Week Six: Choosing the Right Contractor!

The relationship between a homeowner and contractor should be a true partnership – one in which both parties are comfortable communicating suggestions and/or concerns in an open dialog.
