Each year the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) watches over more than 15,800,000 flights.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A laser was pointed at a military plane as it was approaching Charlotte Douglas International airport Thursday night, according to a report.

A U.S. Air Force C17 was approaching the airport around 11 p.m. when the crew spotted the laser strike. The plane was about 12 miles north of the airport after their final training mission when the incident occurred, around 11:15 p.m.

According to LiveATC.net, the pilot of the aircraft told officials the laser was beamed into the cockpit three times: “It popped us about 3 times directly in the cockpit but we’re all good.”

The pilot directed all eyes inside and no members of the flight crew were injured, officials say.

The investigation is ongoing.
