After 32 years in the NFL, last 15 with the Carolina Panthers, Jim Skipper has retired

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - After 32 years in the NFL, Carolina Panthers running backs coach Jim Skipper has retired. He spent the last 15 years with the Panthers.

In the 15 years in Carolina, the team ranked inside the top 10 of rushing in the NFL 8 times.

Under his watch, Stephen Davis, Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Stewart, Mike Tolbert, and DeAngelo Williams all went to the Pro Bowl. Davis, McCaffrey, Stewart, and Williams all ran for over a thousand yards in a single season.

Skipper was the RB coach for both of the Panther’s Super Bowl seasons.

Panthers didn’t waste any time replacing Skipper as they hired Jake Peetz.

Peetz comes to the Panthers after serving as Alabama’s offensive analyst under head coach Nick Saban in 2018.

Peetz has 9 years of experience in the NFL and has served in various roles with Jacksonville, Washington, and Oakland.
