Police operation leads to multiple arrests after illegal dirt bikes, ATV’s reported on Charlotte streets

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - CMPD has reported that an estimated 70 dirt bikes and ATV’s took to the streets of Charlotte on Saturday afternoon, putting other drivers on the road at risk.

Sightings of the vehicles were reported off Morehead St., Freedom Dr., Wilkinson Blvd. and around South Park Mall among other locations.

Multiple CMPD units collaborated to apprehend these drivers and were able to arrest three of them and issue citations to three others in north Charlotte later that day off of Oakdale Rd.

The following individuals were arrested during this operation:

  • Christian Camacho, 26, was arrested and charged with trespass, careless  and reckless driving, and failure to register a motor vehicle.
  • Tyler Camacho, DOB: 20, was arrested and charged with trespass, careless  and reckless driving, and failure to register a motor vehicle.
  • Steven Arruda, DOB: 24, was arrested and charged with resist/delay/obstruct a law enforcement officer.

In addition to this, these drivers were issued North Carolina Uniform Citations:

  • Lazarius Burks, 20, for careless and reckless driving. 
  • Dee Williams, 22, for careless and reckless driving.
  • Ford Tate, DOB: 28, for careless and reckless driving.

CMPD is continuing to investigate this incident and is asking anyone with information about this matter to call 911 or contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
