Silver Alert issued for missing Kannapolis woman

KANNAPOLIS, NC (WBTV) - A Silver Alert issued for a missing woman in Kannapolis has been canceled.

Deborah Carter Congdon, 60, was reported missing after being last seen around noon Wednesday at her home on Old Plank Rd NE in Kannapolis.

Thursday morning, police tweeted that Congdon had been found and is safe. Officials previously mentioned that Congdon had been diagnosed with severe dementia, causing concern when she was reported missing.

Congdon’s family told police she took their red 2014 Nissan Versa Note without their knowledge, and they did not know where may have been headed.

Police say they are thankful for the community’s assistance and Congdon’s safe return.
