CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - CMPD has taken two individuals into custody following a string of break-ins in the Dilworth neighborhood on Monday morning.
Robert Curd, 22, and Jameil Massey, 18, were both charged with three counts of breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.
Police had been investigating two separate break-ins on Mt. Vernon and Berekely Avenue Monday when they learned that an individual with a court-ordered electronic monitoring device had been recorded at the scene of the crimes.
Police tracked the device down to a third residence on Isleworth Avenue where they observed a subject matching the description that a homeowner from a previous break-in had provided.
Upon arriving on Isleworth, one suspect was observed climbing over the fence of a backyard and fleeing the scene while Robery Curd, the suspect with the monitoring device, attempted to exit the back door and was arrested without further incident.
Police stationed at Latta Park were alerted to the suspect fleeing on foot and made contact with the suspect at the entrance of the park. Jameil Massey was arrested after being positively identified and both suspects have been placed in custody.
