CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Star safety Eric Reid has re-signed with the Carolina Panthers for a three year contract that will keep him with the team through 2021.
Reid, a former Pro-Bowler, started 13 games for the Panthers in 2018 after being signed after the season had already started. He recorded 73 tackles, defended five passes and had an interception and a sack over the course of the season.
Reid came to Carolina after beginning his career with the San Francisco Forty Niners. Reid was actively involved in the national anthem protests initiated by his teammate at the time, Colin Kaepernick. Reid has continued his protests during his time as a Panther.
Reid is currently involved in a lawsuit with Kaepernick in which they claim the NFL has colluded against them because of the protests.
