Man arrested for package thefts in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - CMPD has arrested an individual believed to be responsible for the theft of three different packages in January and early February from different Charlotte homes.

Gerald McConnell, 45, has been connected to the theft of a package on S. Wendover Rd. on January 18 as well as taking packages from two different residences on Lorna St. on February 1 near the Elizabeth neighborhood. All of these thefts occurred in the afternoon.

On February 6, residents of the Chantilly neighborhood called police after seeing an individual who matched a prior photograph and police description in a Chevolet Tahoe steal a package from a porch on Chesterfield Ave.

McConnell was arrested at a traffic stop shortly thereafter where he was found to be in possession of the package from Chesterfield Ave. as well as another stolen package from The Plaza. He has been charged with four counts of misdemeanor larceny, three counts of possession of stolen propety and possession of a controlled substance.
