HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Los Angeles Rams!

In an non-scientific method of estimation, the Rams are projected to win Super Bowl LIII, according to the Honolulu Zoo’s Vaigai the Elephant.

On Thursday, the 33-year-old Asian elephant made its pick of the winning team in a new zoo tradition.

Vaigai was presented two watermelons. The watermelons were carved with the logos the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.

From there, it was simple — whichever watermelon Vaigai picked first, that team will claim victory in the big game on Sunday.

And sure enough, Vaigai is a Rams fan.

The public was excited to watch as Vaigai made the tough decision (and proceeded to eat both watermelons).

And Vaigai isn’t the only one to side with the Rams.

On Wednesday, Hawaii News Now put our own Stephanie Lum to the test in a blindfolded test of teams.

The watermelons Vaigai ate were donated by Service Systems Associates, the zoo’s concessionaire. The intricate designs were done by Tommy Notario, the Chef de Cuisine.

Social media users are also invited to vote in a special Super Bowl poll on the Mayor’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Who will win the big game? Tomorrow, Vaigai the elephant at the The Honolulu Zoo will be picking who she thinks will win. Let us know who you’re rooting for! Los Angeles Rams or New England Patriots?
