According to the Statesville Police Department, 28-year-old Kerry Zockime Ravenell was charged in 2017 in connection to the death of 43-year-old Reynaldo Hernandez.

STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A man was convicted Friday for a fatal hit and run in Statesville in 2016.

According to the Statesville Police Department, 28-year-old Kerry Zockime Ravenell was charged in 2017 in connection to the death of 43-year-old Reynaldo Hernandez.

On July 4, 2016, police responded to a hit and run near the intersection of West Garner Bagnal Boulevard and Buffalo Shoals Road that resulted in Hernandez’s death.

In Superior Court, Ravenell was found guilty of felony death by vehicle and felony hit and run resulting in serious injury/death.

On Friday, Ravenell was sentenced to an active term minimum of 84-113 months for the felony death by vehicle charge and an active term minimum of 21-34 months for the felony hit and run resulting in serious injury/death charge with credit for time served.
