CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Hornets head coach James Borrego got to break the news alongside Hornets GM Mitch Kupchak to Kemba Walker that he would be a starter in the NBA All-Star Game.
“I was in Milwaukee, I was in my hotel tell room. I got a call and Mitch (Kupchak) and I decided to call and talk to Kemba together. It was just a proud moment for everybody. I was just really excited for him to just be one of ten,” Borrego said.
Borrego also feels that there is no one more deserving of this honor than Walker.
“When you look at his journey, his story, it’s an incredible story. To be honored like this is just a real special time for him,” Borrego said. “For him to be starting in Charlotte is a real special deal for us. I’m excited for him he’s earned it, he deserves it, hes gonna have a heck of a time.”
Walker and the rest of the NBA All-Star selections will take part in the NBA All-Star Game at Spectrum Center Sunday, Feb. 17.
