Queens beats Wingate to go to 18-2 on the season

Royals start the game on a 16-3 run and never look back

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Queens started their game with rival Wingate with a 16-3 run and never looked back as they won 95-71.

Shaun Willett with yet another double, double as he had 19 points and 12 rebounds. He currently leads the nation in that category with 17.

Lewis Diankulu also had a double, double for Queens as he had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Royals were 6 for 6 shooting to start the game to jump out to that 16-3 lead. Wingate would bounce back with a 9-2 run to settle into the game. The Bulldogs were led by Frankie Johnson who had a game high 21 points.

But the big story in this game was the shooting of Queens as they shot 56% from the field as 5 Royals scored in double figures. Daniel Carr had 13. Both Van Turner Jr and Blake Morrow had 12.

In the losing effort, Marco Haskins had 15 for Wingate and Jarren Cottingham had 14 off the bench.

With the win, the #9 Royals move to 18-2 overall and 10-0 in South Atlantic Conference play. Wingate falls to 10-8 and 6-4 in SAC play
