Chargers looking to become the first 3A men’s program to 3-Peat

Cox Mill looking to make history

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - Since 1960 when North Carolina went to 4 classifications in high school sports, no 3A program has won 3 straight state championships in men’s basketball, but that record could fall this season.

The Cox Mill Chargers won it all in 207 and 2018 and so far this season, they are 16-1 and the #1 team in 3A basketball.

Big things were expected from this team as they returned 4 of the 5 leading scorers off of last year’s team including Wendell Moore who is going to Duke next season and Caleb Stone-Carrowell who is going to Charlotte.

So far this season, Moore is averaging 27 points per game and Stone-Carrowell is averaging 16 per contest. Add Khalid Davis and his 10 points per game and that is the base of a great team. It is a close knit team as well with tons of experience as 7 of the 12 players are seniors.

This is a super talented team and they make it look easy at times, but winning it all again is not a given.
