Kannapolis Police officers honored for work with ‘Bigs In Blue’ program

KANNAPOLIS, NC (WBTV) - Six officers with the Kannapolis Police Department have been recognized for their participation in the Bigs in Blue Program.

The officers are mentoring children in the Kannapolis School System.

Bigs in Blue is a special one-to-one mentoring program, thru Big Brothers Big Sisters, that connects youth with police officers. The officers meet with their little brothers/little sisters at lunchtime once a week throughout the school year, enjoying time together and building relationships that fosters personal growth and academic achievement.

Kannapolis Police Officers who were recognized for their participation in the program were: Kannapolis Police Chief Woody Chavis, Investigator David Archie, Investigator Brett Wilhelm, Officer Wesley Wilson, Officer Stephen Johnson, Officer Lemar Harper, Officer Michael Smith and Connie Rheinecker, Area Director with Cabarrus Big Brothers Big Sisters.
