Local man with traumatic brain injury disappears at NC beach

Silver Alert issued for missing, endangered NC man

ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Officials are asking the public to be on the lookout for a missing Alexander County man who is suffering from a cognitive impairment and may be travelling through the WBTV viewing area.

Paul Milton Simms, 23, went missing while visiting Sunset Beach, NC, with family. According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, Simms suffered from a traumatic brain injury and may be confused.

Officials say he could possibly be trying to make his way back to Hiddenite in Alexander County, or he could be heading to Oak Island, NC, or Myrtle Beach, SC.

Simms is described as a white male, 6′1″ tall and 185 lbs. He has long brown hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a camouflage coat.

Anyone who sees Sims or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Sunset Beach Police Department at 910-253-7490.
