SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - The driver of a flatbed tractor-trailer that crashed into several cars and the side of the Aldi grocery store in Salisbury on Friday has now been charged.

Johnny Ray Locklear, of Albemarle, was charged with careless and reckless driving by Salisbury Police. More charges are possible, according to police, who are waiting on the outcome of the investigation.

On Friday afternoon around 1:00 pm, Locklear was driving south on Jake Alexander Boulevard near Harrison Road. The truck made a sharp left turn, crossing over two oncoming lanes of traffic, running up an embankment, knocking down trees in a bank parking lot, then hitting at least seven vehicles and the building in the Aldi parking lot.

No one was hurt.

Police said the driver could not explain why he left the road and ended up in the parking lot.

The Aldi store was closed for the rest of the day on Friday, but did open on Saturday.
