CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A person driving down Redeemed Road on Dec. 28 called police after noticing a naked female hiding near the roadway.
The victim says after stopping and asking the woman if she needed help, she jumped into his truck and grabbed a handgun which was laying on the center console, police say.
After a brief struggle the victim was able to disarm the suspect, identified as Dulce Marie-Ruby Martinez, and regain possession of the handgun. Officials say while attempting to secure the weapon, Martinez fired the handgun one time damaging the vehicle.
According to officials, Martinez gave investigators conflicting information about the incident. She was transported to the hospital to be evaluated.
Investigators obtained warrants against Martinez for misdemeanor injury to personal property and misdemeanor simple assault. She was later charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny of firearm and misdemeanor assault with deadly weapon.
She was arrested and taken to Iredell County Detention Center where she was placed under a $2,500 secure bond.
