Fred Thomas Wright is accused of shooting two of his neighbor's dogs - killing one - in Iredell County.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - An Iredell County man was arrested Sunday after deputies say he shot two of his neighbor's dogs, killing one.

The shooting happened at a home on the 200 block of Tammy Drive in Mooresville. Officials say the dog’s owner called 911 after 55-year-old Fred Thomas Wright shot them.

When deputies got to the scene, Wright reportedly claimed the dogs killed one of his roosters. The deputies found one of the dogs dead on Wright’s property, but couldn’t find any evidence of a rooster being killed.

The condition of the second dog has not been released.

Wright was arrested and charged with two counts of felony cruelty to animals. He was released from the Iredell County Detention Center on a written promise to appear in court.

No further information has been released.
