MINT HILL, NC (WBTV) - Mint Hill Police have arrested a teenager involved in a gaming console selling scam that resulted in him being shot by a victim that he had attempted to rob.
Tyerie Davis, 17, was hospitalized with serious injuries after attempting to commit two robberies in the span of three hours in Mint Hill on Dec. 20.
Davis posted a listing on the Offer Up app stating that he had a gaming console he was attempting to sell. The first victim met with Davis who then displayed a weapon and took the individual’s money. In the second robbery attempt, an individual in the car with the person attempting to buy the console shot Davis when he displayed his firearm.
Davis has been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Police have announced that no charges will be filed for the individual who shot him. Charges are being pursued, though, for a juvenile who accompanied Davis during both robberies.
