3-alarm fire breaks out at Gastonia freightliner facility

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) - A massive fire broke out at a freightliner facility in Gastonia Thursday morning.

The three-alarm fire broke out just before 8 a.m. at Daimler Trucks on Tulip Drive. The facility is near Rankin Lake Park.

Fire crews say the fire started inside the plant and spread to the roof while workers were demolishing a large paint booth on the inside, an official with Gastonia Fire Department said.

The building was evacuated and no one was injured.

The fire was under control by 9 a.m.
