WADESBORO, NC (WBTV) - North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement officers have arrested nine people in Anson County for operating illegal gaming machines in businesses around Wadesboro.
Arrests were made at the following locations where the gaming machines were found to be in use:
-Wadesboro Discount Grocery on Salisbury St.
-Quck Shop on US 52
-C.Q. Mart on US 74
-Mikes Food Mart on US 74
-Stop n Shop on Salisbury St.
Wadesboro Police had requested the assistance of A.L.E. agents after multiple complaints were filed regarding gaming at these businesses.
“Ever since these gaming machines came, we’ve seen crime going up – robberies, domestic issues and embezzlement cases,” Wadesboro Police Chief Thedis Spencer said. “ALE’s enforcement action today will put a deterrent on any other video gaming operators trying to come into the area with their get-rich-quick schemes.”
