MIDLAND, NC (WBTV) - Local police have arrested two individuals believed to be responsible for an armed robbery on Sunday afternoon.
The Verizon Wireless store in Indian Trail was robbed Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m.
Union County Sheriff’s deputies responding to the incident pursued the vehicle into Cabarrus County before the individuals exited the car and fled on foot near the Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.
Police searched for and arrested both of the alleged robbers Sunday in Midland.
The alleged robbers were identified as 31-year-old David Bradley Webber, Jr. and 53-year-old John Anthony Rowe of Charlotte.
Both suspects are in the Union County Jail facing numerous charges in connection with the robbery.
Webber was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony fleeing to elude arrest and resist, delay and obstruct.
Rowe faces charges of second-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and resist, delay and obstruct.
A number of law enforcement agencies assisted in the pursuit, search and apprehension of the two suspects, including the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, Mint Hill Police, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Waxhaw Police, Locust Police and the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Eddie Cathey thanked all of the agencies involved and praised the excellent communication and quick response by everyone involved.
“We could not ask for better team work than what we saw today. All the agencies, including CMPD’s helicopter and several K-9 handlers, were instrumental in capturing these two dangerous suspects without incident,” Cathey said.
