CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Before practice Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers learned that Quarterback Cam Newton had won his tenth NFC player of the week award.
When asked about the accomplishment in the media room, Cam downplayed the honor, but when his Head Coach Ron Rivera was asked about Cam’s award later he said “it shows how hard he has been working with a new offensive coordinator. “
The honor came on the heels of Cam leading his team back from a 17-0 4th quarter deficit against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in Philadelphia Sunday engineering his 17th career game-winning drive and second this season.
When asked if he said anything at all to encourage his offensive teammates during the 4th quarter before the comeback, Cam said there were some expletives used not only by him but some other players in the huddle too.
Cam and Coach Rivera had only good things to say about their upcoming home opponent Baltimore Sunday at 1 p.m.
They both talked about the long history of the Ravens having a very stingy defense and Rivera was quick to point out they have an explosive offense with plenty of speed.
