CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A Freeze Warning and a High Wind Warning remain in effect for the mountains through mid-morning, as swift Northwest winds are whipping in on the heels of our latest cold front. As cool, dry, high pressure settles in behind it, we'll be in for some of the chilliest temps of the season so far.
Once the sun comes up, we'll have plenty of it from start to finish. But, it won't help the temperatures much. Temps in the mountains won't make it out of the 40s, with 50s for the rest of us. The breeze gradually backs off through this afternoon.
By tonight, with clear sky and calm wind beneath the center of the High, temps will plummet. In fact, a Frost Advisory is in effect for all areas south of I-85 with another Freeze Warning along and north of I-85. This is about average for our first frost/freeze of the season, but, if you’re concerned with any sensitive plants you may want to cover them up or bring them inside.
