Student charged with having handguns, 1/2 lb of pot at high school in Rock Hill

ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - A student at a high school in Rock Hill was arrested after police say they found two handguns and half a pound of marijuana on school grounds.

Extra officers were at South Pointe High School Friday because of rumors of possible violence on campus. While investigating those rumors, police say they found the two handguns and the marijuana in a vehicle in the student parking lot.

Officials say one of the guns was loaded and the other unloaded.

Dakota Patterson, 18, was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen pistol, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana in proximity of a school, and carrying a weapon on school grounds.

A 17-year-old female student was also arrested during the investigation and charged with simple possession of marijuana.

No further information has been released.
