Raising awareness of Sexual Assault at Appalachian State

Sexual Assault Awareness Rally at Appalachian St.

BOONE, NC (WBTV) - A small crowd gathered on the commons area in the heart of Appalachian State University on Wednesday to rally in support of victims of sexual assault.

A group of students wanted to get the word out about resources and places victims could turn to.

The University does have confidential counseling and other programs to help victims. They are asking anyone who has been assaulted to report it to the police, to faculty, or find a friend they trust to confide in.

Though the rally was small Kyra Patel said that did not matter. “If we affected one person then it was successful.”
