CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - South State Bank handed a nice big check to Nazareth Child & Family Connection last Thursday and then bank employees rolled up their sleeves and went to work.
The bank, which recently opened in Rockwell, presented Nazareth a check for $5,000 to help with resident’s school supplies and other general needs.
“South State is pleased to provide resources to help Nazareth Child & Family Connection meet the needs of our community,” said Lisa Clevinger, manager of the Rockwell branch of South State Bank. “I have seen firsthand through volunteering at their events the difference this organization is making in the lives of children and individuals.
“Nazareth does an excellent job of meeting the basic needs while providing loving care and preparing everyone to become successful members of society.”
“We appreciate South State’s donation so very much. It will go a long way in improving the lives of our young residents here at Nazareth,” said Vernon Walters, Nazareth’s president and CEO. “I think the monetary donation, plus their staff’s willingness to get their hands dirty to help Nazareth shows their commitment to our community.”
Before the ink had dried on the check, Clevinger and other members of the bank staff were hard at work at Nazareth’s residential campus. They planted flowers and potted arrangements and pulled weeds from flower beds.
“They worked on campus, worked really hard,” Blair Trexler, Nazareth’s director of development said of the South State Bank volunteers. “What we imagined as a four-hour project took them an hour-and-a-half.”
