Police investigating north Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - CMPD is currently conducting a homicide investigation in the 6700 block of N. Tryon Street.

Police report that multiple shots were fired outside of a shopping center at that location. A call for service came in at 9:02 p.m. and upon arrival, officers located a man with an apparent gunshot wound at the scene who would was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic. The victim was later identified as 27-year-old Demetrius Thomas

Initial investigation has revealed that the victim had been standing outside a business in the shopping center when he was shot by an unknown suspect who then fled the scene. No individual has been taken into custody at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information has been released to this point.
