One person killed in shooting at southwest Charlotte motel

Alert Center: Police investigating southwest Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A male victim was pronounced deceased after a shooting at a motel in southwest Charlotte early Wednesday morning.

According to a release from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the shooting happened at the Motel 6 in the 4400 block of S. Tryon Street shortly after midnight.

Hospital staff at Presbyterian Hospital said that a male victim, later identified as Daquayaon Lavar Brown, arrived with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead. The name of the victim will be released after the family has been notified.

CMPD says they are searching the scene for additional witnesses.

This is an ongoing investigation and police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
