IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A Concord firefighter suffered serious injuries after being involved in a crash Tuesday morning.

The Concord Fire Department says firefighter Ray Elmore was involved in the crash around 7 a.m. in Iredell County.

Elmore suffered a left leg amputation, a severely injured left arm and injuries to his pelvis area and trachea.

“Chief Elmore still has a long recovery and remains under extensive medical watch,” the Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department says. “The fire service has once again reminded us of what a family it is.”

In addition to being a firefighter for the city of Concord, Elmore serves as an assistant chief at the Cool Springs Fire Department in Iredell County.

Elmore’s family asks for continued prayers.

The Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department set up a GoFundMe page to help with Elmore’s medical bills that the family faces in the days ahead.

Details surrounding the crash were not released.
