WATAUGA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - One man was hospitalized and another put behind bars after a stabbing at a grocery store in Boone.

The incident happened just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Publix on the 1600 block of Blowing Rock Road. Police say 41-year-old Jeffrey Lee Warren stabbed a 25-year-old man.

The victim was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for surgery and was in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

While no possible motive for the stabbing has been released, investigators say Warren and the victim were acquaintances and the incident was not random.

Warren was taken to the Watauga County Detention Center and held under a $200,000 bond.
